I'm Fei - a senior product designer in the UK. For the last ten years I've worked where products get complicated: marketplaces, search, and the design systems that hold them together.
Right now I'm at Alamy, building the design system and product experience behind a 100-million-image marketplace. Before that: a string of roles where I learned that good process is invisible and bad process is everywhere.
Alamy is part of PA Media Group - a family of companies where design teams are small and most designers, me included, work their projects solo. Good work was happening everywhere across the group; almost nobody was seeing it.
So I set up the group-wide design critique, and I run it. Designers from every company - and the graphic design team, who I invited in - bring live work for honest feedback, fresh eyes and inspiration. Part critique, part show-and-tell: it's how we support each other and build a design culture across companies that would otherwise never share a room.
